At HeightOn, we’re Big On Better – and that doesn’t stop at branding and digital. It powers the way we work too. From how we generate our energy, to how we drive, we’re committed to making a measurable difference to our footprint.
We’ve invested in clean, renewable technology not just because it makes business sense – but because it’s the right thing to do. And thanks to our energy partner, Octopus, we’re switched on to smarter choices 24/7.

Here’s how our setup is helping to create a more sustainable future, one kWh at a time.
Powered by the sun
Since May 2023, our 8kW solar panel system, installed by OHM Energy, has generated over 23.9 MWh of clean energy – that’s 23,877 kilowatt hours of sunlight powering our business.
More than 82% of that energy – around 19,600 kWh – has been used directly onsite to power our work, charge our electric vehicle and store energy for use around the clock. The rest has been exported to the grid, contributing clean power back to the system.
To put that in perspective:
- That’s enough electricity to run an average UK home for five and a half years
- We’ve avoided around 8 tonnes of CO₂ emissions
Or the equivalent of planting 131 trees, or avoiding 280,000 miles of air travel

Saving energy, storing smarter
Our 13.5kWh GiveEnergy battery, installed by Energy Creation, adds another layer of efficiency to the way we work. By storing excess solar energy, we can keep our operations running after dark – without relying on fossil fuels.
Since installing our battery system, we’ve delivered more than 5,100 kWh of stored energy to power our business. Of that, over 4,100 kWh came directly from the sun.
And when the sun isn’t shining, we charge up with 100% renewable electricity, thanks to our partner Octopus Energy – meaning even our off-peak usage is carbon-free.
Driving cleaner – with fewer emissions
Our switch to electric vehicles was another deliberate move to reduce our environmental impact. Our Skoda Enyaq has already covered 31,000 miles, powered almost entirely by solar and battery energy – and when needed, topped up with green power from Octopus.
By replacing our previous diesel vehicle (which averaged 45–50 mpg), we’ve cut an estimated 3.4 tonnes of CO₂ emissions – just from our regular driving.
That’s the equivalent of:
- Driving a diesel car 31,600 miles
- Or flying return from London to New York 36 times
So what does it all add up to?
Since May 2023, we’ve saved an estimated:
8 tonnes of CO₂ emissions
Which is the same as:
- Planting 131 trees
- Powering 5.5 homes for a full year
- Avoiding 280,000 miles of air travel
And all while running a growing, fast-paced creative business.
We’re not just offsetting – we’re operating differently
This isn’t a green badge or a nice-to-have. It’s a long-term commitment to doing better – for people, planet and purpose. Every solar panel, every EV mile, and every smart switch adds up to a cleaner, more future-ready business.
And because our energy partner Octopus supplies 100% renewable electricity, we’re not just sustainable when the sun’s out – we’re sustainable all the time.
FAQs: Switched On to Sustainability
How did you calculate your CO₂ savings?
We used UK government conversion factors (BEIS and DEFRA 2023) for carbon emissions related to electricity use, diesel mileage, and flight equivalence. All figures are based on our real-world energy data from May 2023 to September 2025.
Is your solar energy really powering your business?
Yes – over 82% of the energy we generate from our rooftop solar system is used onsite to power our studio, charge our EV, and store excess in our battery. The rest goes back to the grid.
Is your electricity 100% renewable even when solar isn’t available?
Yes. We use Octopus Energy as our supplier, and all grid electricity we draw is certified 100% renewable – including overnight off-peak charging.
Why did you choose a battery system?
Our GiveEnergy battery lets us store solar energy for use when the sun isn’t shining – reducing reliance on fossil-fuel-powered grid electricity and helping us save more on energy bills.
Is this setup realistic for other small businesses?
Absolutely. We’re proof that even a small agency can make big changes. Solar, battery and EV setups are now more accessible than ever – and they can deliver both environmental and financial returns.
Can I see your full data or assumptions?
Yes – we’ve published all original data and assumptions in our Impact Brochure and Sustainability Data PDF. We believe transparency is part of real change.
