Update: Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 issue of file name extensions not being added when saving files has been eradicated. Thankfully, having reported the issue to Adobe they have removed the ‘feature’ in the later versions of Photoshop CC, I’m not sure when, but certainly in versions/releases of CC 22.0 and above, the issue has been resolved.

If you’re having problems with opening files without extensions names, here’s the solution:
How to open a file with no extension name on Mac.
There are three options to open your file without an extension name when double-clicking alone doesn’t work.
On Mac, you can drag and drop any file into an open application, or, into the Dock on an application icon that the file is compatible with. If the file is not compatible, it won’t open. If it is, boom, you’re in business.

If you know what extension type the file is, rename the file manually, and then doube clicking will open the file. But I guess you’re doing this given that you’re reading this article for a solution to the problem!
You’re having to pop open finder, locate the file and manually add the file extension name yourself – and this really annoys you? Especially when you’re being taken away from your branding project, yes?

Whenever I save a file and view it in Mac OS Finder, the filename omits the extension I saved the graphic/image file as. .psd, .jpg (JPEG), .png for example.
Like you, my time is precious and this whole process just adds more time to my already packed-out schedule.
I’d had enough.
I searched Google, and many other uses are reporting the issue but with no real answers.
But alas praise the lord (I’m not religious – but I did thank the supreme being)
